16. L'anglès i el català 16.17 Idioms I.
    Aquí agafem la paraula "idiom" en el sentit de: "A group of words which, when used together, have a different meaning from the one suggested by the individual words".
    L'anglès en té de molt curiosos i seria bo de trobar els equivalents en català: (esperem ajuda dels visitants d'aquesta pàgina).
    "It is raining cats and dogs". "Plou a bots i barrals". (no s'ha de dir "està plovent").
    "It is not my cup of tea". (Això no és cosa meva).
    "Birds of a feather flock togheather". "Mai no s'ajunten si no s'assemblen", "Cada ovella amb sa parella".
    "To eat like a bird".   "Menjar com un poll".
    "Stone deaf".   "Sord com una tàpia".
    "Early bird catches the worm".
    "A rolling stone gathers no moss".
    "To take the bull by the horns".    "Agafar el bou per les banyes".
    "To kill two birds by one stone".    "Matar dos pardals d'un tret".
    "A cat has nine lives".    "Un gat té set vides".
    "To fight like a cat and dog".    "Són com gat i gos".
    "To play cat and mouse with somebody".   
    "A litle bird told me something".   M'ho ha dit un ocellet.
    "A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush".   
    "The more you learn the more you earn".
